On Thursday 2nd July, Hudson-Swan were invited to Lake's College Award Ceremony- We were proud to receive the award for 'SME Employer of the Year' this is a great achievement for us and we are all extremely happy!
Hudson Swan would like to Congratulate; Mike, Allan, Paul and Jamie for completing and passing there Level 1 in team leading, this is a great achievement for you all and we are very proud.
Hudson-Swan Engineering are proud to announce that we have received approval, and will now be working in collaboration with a tier two supplier, Including Sellafield. This is the start of many opportunities of working with tier two suppliers. We look forward to working alongside companies in the future. We have been working hard to get to where we are now and would like to thank all employees for their hard work, but also our Customers for supporting us.
From the 23rd to the 26th March, 4 Students from the University Technical College spent their work experience week at Hudson-Swan Engineering. During the week each student spent a day in each Unit, this gave the students an insight to what we do in each of the following; Office, Machine Shop, Fabrication Shop and also in the Welding bays. We look forward to the next set of students to come down and hope that Declan, Conor, Finn and Liam enjoyed their time with us.
Exciting News !!!! Hudson-Swan Engineering are currently undergoing a re-vamp of a new Reception Counter and Extension in which will be converted into new Offices. Pictures to follow....
Apprentice Laura Parker has recently took part in The 2015 BIG RIG Experience Week at Lakes College. Throughout the week Laura has been working on a nuclear rig along with her team members as Project Manager. “The week was very beneficial for me as I learnt a lot about; Project Management, Human Performance, Nuclear Behaviours and the Importance of Team Building”. At Hudson-Swan we find it important that all employees are aware of Team Work and how significant it is when at work.
On the 20th and 21st of January, Allan Hodgson (left) and Matthew Clark (right) went down to HAAS in Leicester to undergo a Programming course for our HAAS VF6. The course has been very beneficial to both Allan and Matthew, We would like to thank Russell Hedges for his support throughout the duration of the course.

The Company was established in 1980 as part of Swan Bearings factors group of companies until 1995 when Swan Bearings formed to be an independent company. In 2000, Swan Bearing acquired Hudson Engineering and formed Hudson-Swan Engineering.
On Thursday 13th November Peter Caunce (left) and Mike Layfield (right) were proud to receive an award from the BECBC Business Awards 2014- ‘Commitment to West Cumbria’ - This is a huge achievement for us in which we are extremely proud of after coming Runners up two year ago. We are very committed to Cumbria and Hope to continue growing in the future.
On the 6th November Hudson-Swan had a Stand at a NDA Supply Chain event at Media City, Manchester. It was a very successful day and we met many prospective customers and Suppliers- A very worth while event!
Our apprentice Programme has continued to flourish as this September we recruited 6 new Apprentices. These apprenticeships consists of Machining, Welding/ Fabrication, Pipe Fitting and Project Engineering.
We are committed to increasing the number of placements, believing that inputting into the local community is vital to future growth of our company but also the prosperity as well as that of West Cumbria. It is also important for us that we Strengthen out Apprenticeship program, allowing the youth of today to broaden their knowledge and skills.
